What
is the event?
Inspired
by films, books, artists, paintings, experiences and people, Follow
the Crumpet Productions debut event, Creatures of the Underworld
is a transient world where fantasy and reality merge in a labyrinth
of surreal and intriguing chambers. This themed one night event
will be comprised of many different and juxtaposing spaces or installations
in the form of a labyrinth which the audience will immerse themselves
in over the course of the night before coming back to the central
social space, the heart of the event.
The central
space will be the social hub of the event, with the bar, finger
food and music, performance, dance and poetry. Filled with cosy
nooks and crannies, sofas, cups and saucers of mulled wine, the
environment will be both stimulating and comfortable, a space where
people can celebrate their bohemianism, release their inhibitions
and revel in one night of totally outrageous creativity. The overall
feel of the event will be one of romance and of the mundane juxtaposing
the fantastical.
Creatures of
the Underworld is a truly cross genre event that is limited only
by how much people are prepared to engage with the space and each
other. It is an event that pushes the limitations of what we know
social arts events to be. It is a place where preconceived ideas
and notions of what the event will be or how it should be are to
be left with your coats at the door. It is place where choreographed
dance takes place alongside revellers, where peoples experience
and engagement with others is as creative as the art work itself.
We want people
to stretch the borders of their imagination, to move as though through
a dream to push the borders of reality and then come back to engage
in more of the surreal and the hilarious.
On the following
pages is an invitation to immerse yourself in our vision, to take
a trip through our imaginations, to explore your own notions of
love and horror, beauty and ugliness, dark and light and become
a Creature of the Underworld.
